Production Downtime Minimised

The Brief

A new bakery project in Ireland asked Lomax to design, build and install a bespoke chilling system that would be capable of arriving in one piece to reduce factory downtime. 

The customer also entrusted Lomax with providing their conveying requirements. These would need to feed products from multiple ovens into the spiral and then transport the chilled product away from the spiral afterwards. 

 

The Solution 

Lomax designed a Spiral Chiller that would be quick to instal and efficient to run.

the Lomax design team worked closely with the customer in the planning stages to ensure the feeding conveyors, spiral and takeaway conveyor system would handle the delicate products with care and in the most hygienic way.

The unit was designed so that it could arrive on its own base frame. Connections were reduced to one power source and two refrigeration pipes.

The fully accessible, stainless steel design ensured quick and easy cleaning, the fast turnaround between defrosting and maximised uptime, which in turn would provide a return on investment.

 

The Outcome

The Spiral Chiller has a uniquely compact design and highly efficient air system that enables large volumes of product to be chilled in a small footprint. 

The unit design meant that a single lift and quick positioning within the factory were possible. The installation was completed quickly meaning that downtime was minimised.
